Beat Nook Café is a proper change of pace for 30A coffee. Located right next to the Santa Rosa Beach Publix, Beat Nook offers a unique experience unlike anything in the area. The shop hosts a sense of community for locals, quality food and coffee, and good energy.
Monica Madden, the current owner, kept much of the atmosphere and decor intact when she purchased the shop. Vintage radios still sit on shelves, along with a small collection of records for sale. The locally celebrated chicken salad keeps the same recipe and is still sold in a large croissant sandwich. She also added some new additions when she opened up.
Lego sets now adorn shelf space throughout the shop. New drinks named after characters from various movies sit on the menu alongside some old favorites. Having a background managing the Meltdown in Seaside, Monica added her own unique gourmet grilled cheeses, the most popular of which being the balsamic blueberry.
My personal favorite is the brie and bacon with the apple pear chutney. Gooey, melted brie mixed with delicious bacon and an apple-pear chutney, is the perfect combination of savory, sweet, and salty.
What makes Beat Nook special is not the coffee nor the sandwiches, but the community. I have compared it to the bar, on “Cheers.” There is a strong community of locals who all know each other well. I have made friends across all ages and walks of life there. It is truly this coffee shop which keeps me in Santa Rosa.
Various events are hosted at the shop from time to time. Authors and musicians will perform and speak at the shop. Every Wednesday night features a karaoke night. Check the Beat Nook Instagram or Facebook for updates on events!
